What is the best kind of shoes for my baby?

When your children are indoors, TAKE OFF THEIR SHOES. Children do not need shoes except to protect their feet. If they are outdoors or in school where they need shoes, put them in shoes that are SOFT, bendy and flexible.
Recommended Shoes:
- Soft leather shoes (these shoes are my favorite)
- Padded all leather shoes
- Chinese slippers
- Flexible sneakers
- Canvas mary-janes that are easy to put on (made in Japan)
DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD IN THESE
- Crocs (the toe box is too big and distorts your child’s body scheme. Children in crocs can fall a lot)
- Hard leather shoes
- High-top shoes
But the best is NO SHOES AT ALL.
This post is truly all to important. Many children's shoes are not designed for the fit of the child but for aesthetics and what not. Children who are fitted with improper shoes that are too small, too big, too stiff, etc will alter the formation and development of their feet that can be debilitating in the long run. Often times I will hear parents hand down shoes that other children have outgrown or even buy shoes a size bigger because their child's feet grow so fast. Instead I suggest looking at it with this question, "What would be healthy for your child's feet at this present moment?"
